You may have heard me talk about documentary photography in my Instagram posts, so I thought it was about time I explain just what documentary photography is. Unlike lifestyle photography, documentary photography consists solely of the events that unfold in front of the lens. There is no posing, no "say cheese," or changing the elements within the space to make it look "prettier" or more "Instagram-able." It's a storytelling style of photography that captures your wedding day exactly the way it happens, with its beautiful mishaps, joy, tears, and love, and preserves those memories - and even emotions - for many years to come. Documentary wedding photography removes the veil of show and performance to reveal the raw and natural events unfolding in an organic way, and encourages you to be yourself by removing the stress of posing and "looking just right" for the camera.
